RAD Studio XE Sneak Preview: Optimizing and Automating the Build Process

SAN FRANCISCO – August 17, 2010 — Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of multi-platform database tools and developer software, today announced the second of three Embarcadero® RAD Studio XE sneak previews leading up to the launch of the new application development suite in early September. The upcoming “2011” release will be named RAD Studio XE and will include Delphi® XE, C++Builder® XE, Delphi Prism™ XE and RadPHP™ XE.

The second sneak preview reveals new tools for developers to automate, manage and add additional functionality to their build processes. Several new tools are being added to RAD Studio XE to help streamline the development process through build automation, code quality assurance using static analysis, performance profiling, memory and resource debugging, and logging.

New RAD Studio XE tools revealed in this second preview include:

  • FinalBuilder Embarcadero Edition includes features to define, debug, maintain, run and schedule repeatable build processes
  • Command line audits, metrics and documention generation to add even more functionality to automated builds
  • AQTime Standard with profiling features to deliver high-performance applications
  • CodeSite Express with logging tools to assist with building high-quality applications

“Most developers would argue that time constraints and scope creep make it impossible for them to work any harder, so the alternative is to work smarter – accomplish more in less time and automate all of the repeatable tasks,” said Michael Swindell, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Embarcadero Technologies. “With the new tools that we’re incorporating into RAD Studio XE, developers can focus on coding the important stuff and automate the rest.”

The RAD Studio XE release also marks the extension of the new XE brand and capability set to Embarcadero’s application development line, including RAD Studio and each standalone tool in the suite. XE products are distinguished by three key components:  support for multiple database types and deployment environments; Embarcadero® ToolCloud technology for centralized license management and on-demand tool access; and an easy upgrade path to Embarcadero® All-Access™ XE.

As with all Embarcadero tools, the RAD Studio XE suite of products will also be available via the Embarcadero All-Access toolbox.

Throughout August, Embarcadero will be showcasing sneak previews to show what’s in store for RAD Studio XE with its new versions of Delphi XE, C++Builder XE, Delphi Prism XE and, now, RadPHP XE.
